LevelPro’s Ultrasonic Level Sensors

The Ultra Pro 500 and Ultra Pro 1000 ultrasonic level sensors are an accurate way to continuously monitor tank levels in water, chemical, or waste water tanks. Regardless if the media is corrosive, the Ultra Pro 500 and 1000 ultrasonic level sensor are non-contact and will never actually touch the liquid. Even if the media is corrosive, the Ultra Pro ultrasonic level sensors are designed in PVDF material to withstand the most corrosive industrial applications, therefore if media does come in contact with the Ultra there will be no external damage. The Ultra Pro 500 and 1000 ultrasonic level sensors can monitor liquid level in tanks, sumps, or pits up the 65 feet. Having a wide variety of ranges that the ultra pro 500 and 1000 ultrasonic level sensors can monitor is beneficial to the end user and distributor.

The main issue with the competitor’s ultrasonic level sensors is that they make their distributors purchase a programming FOB or download external software. The Ultra Pro’s are push button calibrated, meaning you push two buttons to set your 4-20mA output and you are ready to install! Most industrial ultrasonic level sensor applications are programmed so the 4mA is empty and 20mA is full. The Ultra Pro ultrasonic level sensor has the ability to adjust to ensure that the operator can utilize in either set up. If the operator or distributor would like the 20mA set point to be empty, he simply reverses the programming.

The Ultra Pro 500 and 1000 ultrasonic level sensors feature an LED indication light for user confirmation that the ultrasonic level sensor is receiving the return signal and that the ultrasonic level sensor is in fact communicating properly. One thing with ultrasonic level sensors is that you must ensure you are implementing and installing them in correct applications. This means no foam, turbulence, vapor, or condensation should be present. If the ultrasonic level sensor is installed in an application where these factors are present it may function incorrectly. Having an ultrasonic level sensor mounted in a stand pipe is one way to prevent these factors from affecting the reading, but ideally you will want to install where it has a clear line of sight to the liquid. Also, it is very important that you ensure that the ultrasonic level sensor is installed straight. The ultrasonic level sensor must be facing the liquid and not be installed on an angle where the beam may bounce off of obstructions or the tank / pit walls.

HART protocol and RS-485 are becoming much more popular in industrial facilities, the ultra pro 500 ultrasonic level sensor has the ability to cater to both of these outputs and makes for quick and easy integration to the PLC or SCADA system. Most ultrasonic level sensors come with a cable that limits the way the operator can install the sensor, the Ultra Pro has a DIN electrical connection and the operator simply supplies his own wire to install freely within the plant.
